Greens want more state housing

ONE NEWS: The Greens want to see the number of state houses being built doubled.

In its new housing policy, the party has attacked the lack of urgency in resolving the housing crisis it says many people are still facing.

Green MP Sue Bradford says around 1,500 new state houses are currently being built every year but that's not enough.

She says Housing New Zealand should lift the rate at which they build state houses to a minimum of 3,000 each year over the next three years.

Bradford says the Greens strategy is that no would should remain homeless or live in substandard housing.
