National say there will be no new bureaucrats for environment agency

RADIO NEW ZEALAND: The National Party says the creation of an Environmental Protection Agency won't result in more bureaucrats.

The party issued its environment and conservation policies at the weekend.

It intends to expand the existing Environmental Risk Management Authority into an Environmental Protection Agency.

Environment spokesperson Nick Smith says bureaucracy has increased under the current Government, but National is confident it can make changes in key areas by re-prioritising current resources.
