National to keep so-called Anti Smacking law

ONE NEWS: It looks unlikely the anti-smacking law would change under a National government.

National Party leader John Key has told a Family First forum he sticks to his decision to back Green MP Sue Bradford's bill change.

But Key says a referendum will be held next year and he will be looking closely at the result.

He says a National government would only look to change the law if there was overwhelming evidence it's not working and so far he has not seen such evidence.
