NATIONAL BUSINESS REVIEW: The Green Party is making a push for sustainable business and manufacturing practices with a policy launch today which urges them to reap the benefits of being friendly to the environment.
"We aim to maximise the economic and environmental benefits of sustainability in business and to nurture local manufacturing and production," MP Sue Bradford said at the launch in Auckland.
"The Green vision for Kiwi businesses is that they are economically successful, environmentally sustainable, socially responsible and valued by customers, staff, the wider business community and the Government."
Key points of the policy include:
* Government playing a leading role in identifying and promoting new sustainable business opportunities;
* Continued support for Buy Kiwi Made, mandatory country of origin labelling and product insurance for imported manufactured goods;
* Making compliance easier for small businesses; and
* Exploring ways of improving access to capital, and to training and support, for small businesses in New Zealand.
